[Top 5 Wednesdays] #9 - Favorite Game Functions

With the introduction of Version 7.0, there are a lot of cool ways to play Monster Strike. You will now have to think of ways to get that S Rank to get more medals or to compete for the fastest time.

This week's Top 5 will be my favorite functions in the game that were added onto Monster Strike (both NA and JP). I will exclude things like buffs, new forms, and the things in Version 7.0.

#5 - Tower Skip

Let's face it. The Tower sucks after the first few times you completed it. After the satisfaction of clearing it the first time, the sense of accomplish dwindles away and you only continue to play it for the orbs or Babel.

What is worst is playing the first 19 floors because they are there just to waste time since the rewards are not great (who needs a 6* Deathscoil if you completed the Tower already?) That is where the Tower Skip came into play this month! You can skip up to Floor 19 if you beaten it already in the last 2 showings. All you need is the stamina which you can overflow if you don't have the max stamina needed. Say bye bye to that 1 hour of mindless flicking to Arthur/Loki/Alice.

#4 - Buyback

#4 spot is the Buyback function that is only available in the NA version (don't fact-check for TW and KR lol).

Of course you can use it as you would, buying back monsters you accidentally sold, but there is a better function for it. Since there is no time expiration on how long that monster stays on the list, this is technically 50 extra box space for you! Since the gold you need to buyback are so minuscule, it is worth the 10 orbs you would have to spend for that 50 real box space! Just too bad you can't save up Morlings and Expies in there.

#3 - Previous Team

I just love the Previous Team function because it saves a lot of thinking for my brain that has short term memory. It is really useful in the Tower since you don't want to waste that stamina/time thinking of what you cleared last time.

#2 - Ableberries

This is probably the only addition that affected the game balance besides new forms and buffs. Ableberries can do a lot of things from surviving strong attacks, deal more damage or to boost stats.

Without Ableberries, we won't have better rank farming methods, Kushinada one-shoting the obstructors in Bishamonten and ridiculous HP values!

#1 - Social Co-Op

Fun fact: LINE or Social Co-Op never came out with the game in JP. This function was added in their Version 3.0 update almost a year after its initial release. The game revolutionized co-op in mobile games by being one of the first games to do it locally. After the success of Social/LINE Co-Op, it pioneered new ways of co-op in other games. Plus it set the standard that your mobile game has to have co-op to be on anyone's radar.

This specific addition rescued Mixi out of bankruptcy and be one of the games at the top of the worldwide app charts.

How Was It?

What other game functions you like? And how did it changed your way of playing the game?

Also comment on what other Top 5s I should do.
