But this time I have decided to try to revive the blog a bit. This time I'll be talking about the anime, the story, the monsters, the connection to the app, and of course questions leading up to the second season!
Oh yeah, SPOILER ALERT!!!!!
The Story
The story revolves around Homura Ren (should be Ren Homura but I like the last names first...). He came back to his hometown of Kaminohara to attend middle school. He lost his memories when he was a child due to an accident that even he couldn't remember, and of course hidden from us as well.
On his first day back, he broke his phone. After getting it repaired, Monster Strike was pre-installed for him. Afterwards, a stranger processed attacks Ren, summoning Fenrir X. Ren, without any monsters, gets a call from his Monster Strike app. After answering the call, Oragon, the prince of the Monster World, appears to help Ren.
Ren couldn't control Oragon without a Striker Ring. He was given one by Mizusawa Aoi, Ren's classmate. Upon wearing the Ring, his hair turns red and he starts remembering his past.
Basically I wrapped up the first 2 episodes. The rest of the season was Ren meeting other Strikers and the eventual members of his team, Mizusawa Aoi, Wakaba Minami, Kagetsuki Akira.
Nearing the end of the season, a mysterious monster came to kill Ren's team, who just defeated Izanami. The monster knew Oragon and his full name "Oraternative Dragon" and Awoken Ren knew the monster himself.
The Characters
Here are the main characters of the anime.
Homura Ren (CV: Kobayashi Yusuke)
Ren moved back to his hometown of Kaminohara for middle school. However, he lost all his memories when he lived there.
Mizusawa Aoi (CV: Lynn)
Ren's childhood friend. She wanted to create a new Monster Strike team after Haruma left. She holds the key to Ren's lost memories.
Wakaba Minami (CV: Kimura Juri)
Ren and Aoi's classmate. She is a natural airhead and goes offtrack whenever she gets excited.
Kagetsuki Akira (CV: Kawanishi Kengo)
Also Ren and Aoi's classmate. He is a cool perfectionist.

The Monsters
There are original anime monsters used by the characters.
Homura Ren's Monster: Oragon / Fenrir X
Mizusawa Aoi's Monster: Fox Metal
He was probably inspired by a famous Japanese wrestler named, Muto Keiji. Fox's posing is very similar to Keiji's.
Wakaba Minami's Monster: Dead Rabbits Ltd.
The sister with the skirt is called "Torin (トリン)" and is in charge of software. The sister with the short pants is called "Rint (リント)" and is in charge of hardware.
Kagetsuki Akira's Monster: Kamui
Kamui is a monster who is prolific in swordplay, able to move fast and slashing enemies.
Throughout the episode, there will be hints for special codes for the main game. If you figure out the code, you will receive in-game items. Mostly Expies, Morlings or Expie Vouchers. There are some rare cases that it will have Divine Sharls and Orbs.
There are stages for players to get those monsters from the anime.
First one is Minami's Dead Rabbits Ltd. They are a Limited monster which means that they will only appear in Hatchers only if they are featured (like Cleopatra, Napoleon, and etc.). Both forms are very good. Most players will go for Evo just for the SS and the wonderful effect when they use it!
Second one is Akira's Kamui. He is a Legends Series exclusive so he will always be able to roll in the beginning of the month. He has a special Bump Combo x2 ability where monsters can proc his Lightning bump twice (you have to bump him twice in the same shot). He also has a cool effect on his SS if he finishes a boss on its yellow bar.

Connection to the Mobile Game
One big characteristic of the anime is the connection to the main game. The developers wanted players to watch the anime, and then it will have something anime-related in the main game during the same time.
Codes/Spells (JP Version)
Throughout the episode, there will be hints for special codes for the main game. If you figure out the code, you will receive in-game items. Mostly Expies, Morlings or Expie Vouchers. There are some rare cases that it will have Divine Sharls and Orbs.
Sadly, it is only on the JP version since the hints are in Japanese (and the codes as well).
Anime Dungeons
There are stages for players to get those monsters from the anime.
The first one is the Secret Stage to get Fenrir X where you need to bring Oragon into Fenrir's Extreme Stage.
Afterwards, there are other stages for Fox Metal and Izanami Zero.
The most recent one is for Aoi & Fox Metal where you have to bring Fox Metal into his own dungeon (JP Only).

Some monsters appear in the Hatcher.
Questions for Season 2
Before I start... MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!
However, I won't go so deep that I will be referencing the plot in the 3DS game which is considered to be very close to the anime. Even so, I'll give you some info that will answer some questions you might have during the end of Season 1.
Haruma?
Haruma is a big question mark for people. Why he left Aoi, Minami, and Akira or what the hell he is doing now?
Without spoiling much, he does have his own MS team.
Members include (left to right):
- Kobayashi Mariko
- Kagutsuchi Haruma
- Ichinose Shino
- Owada Kaoru
Wait... Haruma's last name is Kagutsuchi.... hmmmm.
The 3 Cloaked Characters
At the end of Episode 10, Shirahama Taiyou looks to the rooftop where 3 cloaked figures appear. The 3 are actually Taiyou's MS teammates.
Members include (left to right):
- Noda Akane
- Shirahama Taiyou
- Nikaido Jun
- Takii Sanjo
Seems like they all go to the same school as Ren and the others.
Monster At the End of Season 1
If you watch to the very end of Episode 14 of the anime, there was a new mysterious monster that came to confront Ren's team (and to eat Izanami).
Not much is known about him and he didn't seem to appear in the 3DS game. That being said, I didn't read/watch through the whole story.
HOWEVER! In the credits, we see this...
This is the list of the cast of the secondary characters. First 5 were Fox Metal, Dead Rabbits x2, the Manager (possessed creepy guy), and Izanami. At least we get to know his name now. In Japanese, his name is ドゥーム which translates to Doom.
Members include (left to right):

- Kagutsuchi Haruma
- Ichinose Shino
- Owada Kaoru
Wait... Haruma's last name is Kagutsuchi.... hmmmm.

Conclusion
The anime is really cool with a lot of characters and original characters. It is definitely a watch if you have some free time. There are a lot of MS teams in the anime and it will be fun to see how they interact. I'm pretty sure they will have a full 4-vs-4 MS battle and it will be interesting how it works out.
