[Top 5 Wednesdays] #14 - Back From the Dead.... Naturally!

Welcome to this week's Top 5 Wednesday!

What really surprises me about Monster Strike and what makes this game so deep is all the different ways they make dungeons. With different dungeons come different strategies and different viable monsters.

This week, I'll be listing the 5 monsters that got brought back from obscurity as a top viable pick for a specific dungeon. To make it on the list, it has to be from just what the dungeon requires players to bring and not after the game buffing the monsters or giving them new forms.

#5 - Beethoven (Evo)

Starting off the list is the Evolution of Beethoven. He was one of the few NGB+NDW monsters of his time. However, there were not a lot of dungeons that requires both of his Nulls. This makes him super obsolete behind the better Fire monsters of Ryoma, Agnamut X and the eventual Himiko.

To his luck, there was finally a Wood dungeon that requires both NGB and NDW in Shambhala and he had a resurgence. But also to his luck, he was never the top top pick for that dungeon and right now there is Transcension Micha which is a direct improvement.

#4 - Kali (Evo)

Evolved Kali never got any praise from the time of her release. Although she was unique at the time with her Speed Up bump, there were no real place to make use of it.

Few years down the road, Izanami Zero came. Evo Kali became a staple for that dungeon since she help your team get more bounces off the Healing Wall or just deal more damage for kill and run teams. Now she is not really needed in Izanami Zero since the likes of Loki and Raff exist.

#3 - Rad Swagger (Evo)

Although Rad Swagger got a "buff", he is on this list because his revival was before the actual buff itself. His resurgence happened when Oruga came out for the first time. He has the Slayer and the Null for the dungeon. What made him a top pick was because the other NGB powerhouses at the time were Deities (Hunter King, Odin, Mundus, etc.). This naturally puts him at the top of the viable pool and is now used in the 27th Floor of the Tower

#2 - Rapunzel (Asc)

Yet another monster that got buffed but her viability didn't really changed after the buff and the dungeon that she is used for came after.

Rapunzel came back to life when the first additions to the Tower of Champions came. The nasty of the Floor that is 31F becomes manageable when you stack a couple of Rapunzels in the lineup. Even though there is Iris who is NGB+Null Magic Circle, Rapunzel still becomes the top monster for that dungeon to this day with her double Slayers!

#1 - Sarutobi Sasuke (Evo)

When people look back at which Series was the worst, you will hear mentions of the first Ninja series featuring Hanzo, Saizo and Sasuke. All 3 monsters were outright underpowered on release and even after buffs.

Sasuke got a revival from the Colossal quest, Eden. He is powerful in that dungeon due to his short SS CD which can be used a number of times throughout the dungeon. What makes him #1 on this specific list was that he got to be in the Monster Strike Collection hatcher which is a collection of the top 16 monsters for the month. Although the developers chose those 16 monsters and not the fans, he still was recognized as a somewhat good monster by the eyes of the creators.
